Antarctica: An Adventure of a Lifetime!
January 2024 | Highlights
The experience that Scenic gave us was incredible! From exploring the ocean and its small (and not so small) critters, to flying above the icy continent.
We explored the abandoned bases and saw items left from 1959 in its original glory.
Once in a lifetime experiences of riding a helicopter over Antarctica and journeying into the southern ocean in the submarine, with the very experienced Discovery Team.
We walked alongside the penguins and their highways, always careful not to intrude on their territory. We also saw whales, seals, jellyfish and much more. We applaud Scenic on their abidance of the IAATO rules to keep Antarctica in its natural form, and preserve it and its inhabitants for future generations.
The restaurants on board served the most wonderful meals, including a wide range of cuisines from French, Asian and Italian, not to mentioned the abundance of drinks. Also for those who had now ticked off 7 continents. they had the privilege of being invited to a Captains cocktail party.
The Ghan Experience: Adelaide to Darwin

Kakadu National park: After lunch, a yellow waters cruise with lots of wildlife - including crocodiles and turtles!
Aboard our amazing flight over Kakadu and Arnhem Land before we head back to Darwin for the most amazing sunset.
An outback campfire enjoying a regionally inspired menu paired with a selection of local wines (all meals, wines & beverages were inclusive!)
Nitmulik Gorge cruise in Katherine before it is time to board the amazing Ghan for supper.
Darwin - City sight seeing tour before an afternoon of leisure having cocktails by the pool at the Mindil beach resort. Then off to a sunset dinner cruise on the Charles Darwin.
Dinner at the wharf, a visit to the Mindil beach market, finished with another amazing sunset on the beach.
Canada and Alaska: Natural Wonders

We visited the quaint little town of Skagway before we head off on our helicopter ride and then our dog sledding tour!
Jasper at the Fairmont. Some of our Scenic freedom of choice tours including the Harley Davidson with the sidecar reside. And we saw a BEAR!!!!!
Lake Louise - The lake was frozen over so some of us went for a walk across the lake! We also spotted a big herd of deer.
Our beautiful castle hotel, the Fairmont Banff. After we arrived it started snowing and we enjoyed the most majestic atmosphere.
The Rocky Mountaineer Gold Lead - So much food and drink to enjoy while traveling along incredible scenery of snowy mountains and pine trees.
Setting sail on the Holland America cruise to Alaska on the Volendam. Amazing scenery and adventures, with lots of fun and laughs together!

Premium beverages all day with exquisite cuisine while travelling along beautiful scenery on board the Scenic Amber 5-star luxury cruise ship.
Fine dining at Portabellos on the Scenic Amber - one of the five dining venues we enjoyed while on board.
Durnstein in Austria was picturesque with a little village that is notable for its blue-and-white cathedral and the medieval ruins of Kuenringerburg Fortress.
A wonderful walk around Weltenburg Abbey in Regensburg which sits serenely on the bank of the Danube River.
Amsterdam was incredible - where we enjoyed the gorgeous architecture and culture! After a wooden clog making demonstration, we had to drop in a shop which had a sign out the front “queso de nuestra granja por edam” (cheese from our own farm by Edam)!
We enjoyed a wonderful Gala dinner onboard the ship filled with laughter and dancing, complete with many delicious dishes and drinks!
